Battery Tips
If you have gone to school without a fully charged laptop and have forgot your laptop charger then a smart tip would be to put the laptop on "Battery Saver". This will reduce the laptops performance speed but will make the laptop battery last longer then expected. Another way to save battery could be lowering the screens brightness as well as back light keyboard. |
WiFi Connectivity Tips
A WiFi connectivity tip could be instead of disconnecting from your network you can just switch off the WiFi adapter. Instead of having to re-type the password to reconnect to the network you can just switch the network adapter back on and it will then reconnect. WiFi connectivity is very easy since instead of using an Ethernet cable you can access the world wide web wirelessly |
Backing up personal files & information Backing up files on your laptop is an important tip to follow by and remember. Backing up your personal files is a must because if your laptop gets infected by a virus and must be restored then it is possible for you to lose your work completely if you didn't back it up. Types of backups include icloud storage, google drive, one drive, dropbox, hard drive and USB devices. Although you can backup your files online it is usually a limited amount of storage unless you upgrade the account. Backing up onto a hard drive is much more efficient because you can access it anytime anywhere if you have it on you. This is a functionality tip because it helps you when bad things start to happen, such as virus's and rollbacks. Always saving your work Always saving you work is an important tip to follow. Why? Because sometimes your laptop could randomly restart or possibly crash. When this happens all the work you were previously doing could be lost. Although microsoft office has an auto save function it is still possible for your work to be lost or not all the information you wrote is there. This is a good tip because it becomes a good practice to save your work regularly. If you are not familiar with a laptop then this is a great practice and learning experience as if you didn't know this your school work documents could be lost with an instance. |
Always keeping up to date You should always keep your laptop up to date for several reasons. Once again there are always urgent security patches released for Windows, and this time the problems they fix are potentially catastrophic issues with the encryption stack. This is why you should have Windows install updates automatically. You often need to patch security problems as soon as possible to fix whatever the problem is. After a patch is released, the security hole becomes public knowledge if it wasn’t already. Attackers now know the problem and can rush to start exploiting it as soon as possible before people update. This is an extremely important tip because if you don't always keep your system up to date then there are potential issues to arise. If you follow this tip then your laptop will always be up to date as well as safe.
